Nike Tiempo Legend 5 Soccer Cleats

The Nike Tiempo Legend 5 is a very comfortable, leather soccer cleat. It is made with a kangaroo leather upper. The Legend 5 is the highest model of the Nike Tiempo lineup.

The Legend 5 is an extremely comfortable shoe. The leather of the upper will stretch to conform to the exact shape of the goalkeeper's foot. That being said, right out of the box the shoe is a little tight especially around the toebox. It will take a few practice sessions for the leather to soften and stretch out. However, the leather is extremely soft right out of the box. Throughout breaking the shoe in, I did not get any blisters or discomfort.

This shoe runs about a half a size too small. I usually wear a 9 US in soccer cleats. I had to bump up to a 9.5 US to achieve the proper fit for my foot.

The Legend 5 comes equipped with Nike's ACC (All Conditions Control) and Hypershield technology. ACC comes on all of Nike's top end models. It is a essentially a coating that is put into the upper of the shoe that allows better grip of the soccer ball during wet conditions. Hypershield is a liner that goes underneath the leather of the upper. It is designed to be a thin, honeycomb mesh. This mesh does not add noticeable bulk to the cleat and is implemented to improve comfort to the shoe.

Although this shoe is leather, it is not as heavy as many would think. It is in fact lighter than many leather shoes and the lightest shoe in the eternity of the Tiempo lineup. Even though the Legend 5 is not as light as many synthetic cleats, there is the added benefit of additional protection. The bulk of the leather will provide more cushioning compared to the thinness of a synthetic upper.

The durability of this cleat is fantastic. I am currently wrapping up my 2nd season with these cleats. During these two seasons, I have been training and playing with these cleats at least 5 times a week. There has not been any tearing that is noticeable. There is only a little separation between the soleplate and the upper on the inner side of my feet. Compared to other cleats that I have used, this separation is very minimal for how much I have used these cleats.

Overall the Legend 5 is a fantastic cleat. At around $200, this cleat is worth the money. It is considerably cheaper than the rest of the highest end models from Nike. I am on the second pair of Legend 5's and will continue to purchase cleats from the Tiempo line as I need new cleats. I would recommend these shoes to others.
